It was weekend and my boyfriend and I wanted to get out of the house and visit a new place we both haven’t seen yet. So the big question was: Where to go?
We decided to choose a train track and find the first stop that was unknown to us. This brought us to Rilland-Bath in Zeeland. It was a small village with a lot of churches. We did some geocaching, and found two. One at an abandoned church, which we couldn’t enter unfortunately. All windows were broken and the clock stopped working. It would have been a nice church if it was maintained.
There was an Earth cache in the area, so we decided to go there. It brought us through the farmlands to a dike with a beautiful view. The farmlands along the road to the dike, were growing potatoes (or that’s what I think it was), corn, and wheat. The landscape was very calming, which was exactly what we needed after a workweek.
Once at the dike we had a beautiful view of the harbor of Antwerp. We could see the big cranes and the Doel nuclear power plant, and big ships coming in and out the harbor over the river (Wester)Schelde. And if we turned around we could see the wind playing with the corn and wheats, creating green waves through the fields.
After enjoying the view we headed back home. While waiting for the bus, this poppy just caught my attention and made the waiting a little better.
Being outside and trying to capture the beauty surrounding us, was definitely true that day.
I used to live in Rilland when I was a child. The land was very flat and wide with big farms.
I have lived in Sussex in England for 50 Years ,also a very beautifull place
Remember the time in Zealand as very happy .
I’ve only been there for a day, but it was a beautiful place. I definitely want to visit England some time, it seems like a very beautiful country as well. Thank you for your comment!
