We went to the Japanese garden on the Clingendael estate. This is a freely accessible garden which is only open a few weeks per year. This short opening periods is due to the vulnerability of the plants and landscape. During the visit we could enjoy the (sometimes rare) flowers, plants, and trees, in a typical setting of a Japanese garden. Complete with traditional attributes and ponds.
The landscape was beautiful, but it was quite busy with visitors. The flowers were pink, purple, orange, and yellow. Most of them are rhododendrons and azaleas.
The attributes were making the experience of a Japanese garden complete, even though I have never been to Japan or other Japanese garden, it gave me a Japanese feeling.
Of all the attributes, the little red bridge really did it for me. It’s like what you see in paintings and pictures from Japan. The only thing missing was the lady in a kimono with an umbrella.
