A series of colorful and creative pictures, emphasizing the amazing details of the tulip.
Tulips are beautiful flowers, and here in the Netherlands we are famous for them. In this series I show you the amazing details tulips have. From their hearts with pistils and stamen, to their stems and petals with amazing color profiles.
The tulips
For these pictures I had white/pink and red/yellow tulips available. A beautiful color combination, which creates a nice contrast between the softness of the white/pink ones and the almost harsh red/yellow ones. Combining that with the stem, and unusual angles and framing, gave for some interesting images.
The heart
The hearts of the tulips have pistils and stamen with tiny little details hiding at the center of the tulip. Once the tulips starting to bloom these will slowly come to light, ready to be discovered. The pistils have a sticky top with very small hairs, and the stamen have the pollen on slender wavy filaments.
The petals
The petals have amazing color gradients. The transition from one color to another is worth looking at more closely to see how the fading effect is created by mother nature. Once you’re zooming out again, you can’t miss the beautiful curly edges with a slight saw tooth pattern.
I hope you enjoyed this colorful journey through the details of tulips. Next time you see tulips, take a closer look.
